The band started life as a Brass Band in Goring before the First World War. It then reformed in 1925 and played on until 1939, but when war was imminent it proved impossible to carry on.
In 1977, the Committee organising the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations in our twin villages suddenly realised that they didn't have a local band to play, so they set about reforming the band again only, this time, they included woodwind players as well as brass.
The band has now been playing continuously for more than 30 years and has over 40 members, whilst remaining true to its original objectives of being a community band for people of all ages and abilities. The band carries out a number of engagements each year that raise money for different charities and band funds and will be playing on the Saturday only at this year's Boat Show.
