The Beale Park Boat Show has evolved from what was a small wooden boating event to an established annual show catering for the entire boating community and consumers alike.
Over the years it has built-up quite a following with numerous loyal exhibitors; while still attracting new businesses, year on year.
Exhibitors and Friends of the Show have endorsed the event by providing their own feedback; with these endorsements and continued support, the Beale Park Boat Show is one not to be missed!
Barbara Penniall of the Electric Boat Association
"Beale Park is THE inland boat show to visit. The show enjoys a delightful setting with exhibitors placed around an inland lake leading onto the River Thames.
Visitors can experience boats on the water and try out craft for themselves. Exhibitors participate in the friendliest atmosphere of an extremely well organised boat show which is very well supported by the public and is accessible by road, rail and water. Whether a potential purchaser or just looking for an entertaining day out, then Beale Park Boat Show in June each year is well worth a visit.
The Electric Boat Association has supported the event every year since a boat show was first held on the site in 1999 and we recommend anyone interested in inland boating - particularly electric of course - to attend the Beale Park Boat Show over any other in the UK."
Janie Harper of Boat Building Academy, Lyme Regis
"Sail, see, be seen, meet and greet – we just wouldn't miss it."
James Troup of Linssen Yachts
"We have exhibited one of our Linssen Yachts at the Beale Park Show for a number of years and we meet a good cross-section of or customers both old and new; it is an excellent unhurried environment from which to display and sell our motor yachts to both Thames boat owners and boat owners from further afield."
Mike Stevens of the Old Gaffers Association
"I first went to the Beale Park Boat Show years ago as a spectator. Since those early days, the show has improved immensely and is no longer just 'another boat show' but has transformed itself into being a family day out with many attractions and yet, still, the core value of a traditional boat show remains and in itself is stronger, with a huge crowd of knowledgeable people only too ready to help you, if you are thinking of buying or building a boat."
Cheryl Taylor of Outhill Boatbuilders Ltd
"I would just like to congratulate Gillie and Linda for the time, effort and dedication they must put in to the organisation of the show. This was the first year we have had a stand at the show and our exhibitor pack arrived in plenty of time, with all the required information. Very helpful security staff directed us to our pitch.
The event was well advertised locally and nationally and the customers that attended seemed to be very knowledgeable; we sold more of our products that expected. There was plenty going on to keep visitors happy, involved and entertained. All in all, a big 'well done'."
Mike Smylie of Kipperland (ex-BBC Food Personality of the Year)
"Thanks for another great Beale Park Show. It is really starting to develop into a great event. From the point of view of Kipperland, the show is hard to match in terms of the general setting. The 'Green Area' combines a mixture of rural delight with a great passing through of the general public who seem to appreciate the lure of the kipper more and more. It also gives me a chance to catch up with many of the exhibitors who have become yearly customers at breakfast time.
Two years ago a professor from an America university who had an interest in fishing (and had read my Book 'Herring - A History of the Silver Darlings')came especially to the show because he had heard I was there. My journalist/historian hat comes into play more so here than at any other show which enables me to see what the boat builders are up to. As you know, Simon Cooper and I have engineered various displays upon the lake - from fishing to sailing canoes and skin vessels.
The lake, with its array of boats, really makes the show. Where else can we sit by water, small picturesque boats of all types sailing or rowing around, munching a fresh kipper and discussing the current boat market?! The general opinion of the exhibitors is that this show is one that should continue. Southampton might have its positive side but for the wooden boat builders it seems it is too mixed. Beale combines business and pleasure in the way that I'm sure they are meant to be. Real skilled people conversing with both customers and colleagues with the general ambience and socialising thrown in. Long may it continue."
Claudia of Starfish Books
"The show we look forward to most in the year – great atmosphere, great people. There's no other boat show like it! Beale Park Boat Show captures the spirit of small boat sailing in a way that larger, more impersonal shows never manage to do. The setting is perfect, the atmosphere delightful and the last few years have been reliably profitable for us. There is huge potential here to grow and reach further into the heart of the ordinary, rather than the fantasy, sailing community."
Richard Havard of the Steam Boat Association
"The unique atmosphere at Beale Park Boat Show must be experienced to be believed. If you have never visited you can't understand, if you do you will!"
Nat Wilson of IBTC Ltd
"Exhibiting at Beale Park is more like a holiday than commercial hard sell and we still get great results."
Roger and Jean Jackson of Intramore Ltd
"As usual, we had a great time at the show again this year. Owing to the nature of our boats, folk normally view them on land, take the literature on offer, listen to our sales-talk and then go home to check out the internet before some of them get back to us with their orders! But the Beale Park Boat Show is one of the few UK venues where we can demo the boats on water.
This leads us to actually sell boats on the show, and this year was no exception with three boats going out to very satisfied customers. The other thing that 'makes' the show for us, is the excellent venue and the first class organisation."
Stewart Brown of Drascombe by Churchouse Boats
"We always look forward to the Beale Park Boat Show & enjoy our time there. It is a great weekend show in lovely surroundings. The 'Garden Party' atmosphere around the lakeside gives the show its own special character where customers become guests."
Nick Fisher of Useful Magnets
"A lovely, friendly show in a superb location which has given us lots of new customers. The organising team have always bent over backwards to help ensure that everything is as it should be, and nothing is too much trouble for them. If you are thinking of dipping your toe in the water and exhibiting at this show, my advice is to dive in!"
Mike Ford of Mechanical Line Solutions
"MLS attended the Beale Park Boat Show for the first time in June 2011. We found the event well organised and were impressed by the attendance, even with poor weather on the Sunday. This show gave us the opportunity to promote our products to a wide range of consumers, both trade and general public."
Fred Ball of the Amateur Yacht Research Society
"I am in the fortunate position of being able to write an endorsement in support of Beale Park Boat Show from three points of view. For many years I have been an ordinary visitor to this show and always found it to be a most enjoyable experience with many interesting displays of boats meant to be used rather than kept as status symbols; superb amateur construction and absolutely marvellous restorations of Classic Boats, opportunities to seek further education in boat building, and of course the opportunity to buy useful equipment for my own boat. As a result of these visits four years ago I organised a stand for the Amateur Yacht Research Society (at the time I was chairman), an Educational Charity interested in the science of boats and in encouraging experiments to improve them and in publishing our members' theories. As a result, we have found that we have been able to increase our membership and sales of our publications each year and the Show is now firmly established in our calendar.
This year I also took part in the Cordless Canoe Challenge so am able to report that as a competitor I was made welcome and enjoyed myself in spite of losing in the primary heats. The Staff at Beale Park are always helpful and ensure that exhibitors and visitors are well looked after."
Mark Stanley of Stanley & Thomas Boat Builders
"We have always found that the show is friendly, well run and above all, productive."
Dave Hart of BoatsUTow
"I am a small boat dealer and have had a stand at the Beale Park Boat Show for three years. Each year I have sold the boats and other marine items that I arrived with. I do not go to the larger boat shows as the costs are high. The organisers of the show are friendly and make one welcome. The show itself is like a festival of small boat builders and allied marine related stalls plus other stalls which add to the family and diverse nature, making the show attractive to a wide spectrum of interests."
Nick Smith of Nick Smith Boatbuilders
"I have exhibited for the last 6 years now; apart from the unpredictable weather it just gets better and better for me and my boats. It is a serious advertising and face to face time with customers and potential customers for me, apart from it being a lovely festival weekend. I hope to get to ten years in a row then decide whether or not to do another ten!"
Robin Ford of Thames Traditional Boat Society
"This is my favourite boat show; lovely setting, friendly atmosphere and full of real boats. The Beale Park Boat Show is by far the most friendly and enjoyable show in the UK boat show calendar. Held in a beautiful setting, with a truly friendly, relaxed atmosphere, the mainstay of the show includes displays by builders and distributors of attractive and accessible boats, many of a classic nature, rather than huge monstrosities catering only for the very wealthy as at London Excel and Southampton. These are backed by a variety of associations and user groups, who demonstrate their enthusiasm both on the bank and on the lake. These associations both act as a sales tool for their type of boating and help to pass on their enthusiasm to visitors. Above all this is an entertaining show with something to appeal to all tastes and ages. As organiser of The Thames Traditional Boat Society's presence at the show since it started, I have never failed to be impressed at the excellent organisation and management of the show by Gillie, Linda, Donna and the rest of the Beale Park team.
The show provides the perfect opportunity for a sponsor to make contact with both visitors and the extensive trade presence, at a time when they are enjoying themselves and in a positive mood. I spent 12 years or so of my career as a sponsorship consultant, primarily creating or buying sponsorship opportunities for my clients and I wholeheartedly endorse The Beale Park Boat Show as an event well worth considering, with genuine opportunities to meet sponsorship objectives and generate a return on investment."
Dinghy Cruising Association
"We attend every year because the show attracts the sort of person who can easily be persuaded that there is much more to do in small boats than just racing!"
