Beale Park Thames Boat Show

Eyemouth International Sailing Craft Association

Thursday 19th May 2011

EISCA returns after a successful display at the entrance to last year’s show, where elements of the ‘Eyemouth Maritime Centre’s opening exhibition, ‘Bligh’s Voyage Across the South Seas’ were shown alongside a full size, exact replica of ‘The Bounty’s Launch’.

Since then show relations between Beale Park and EISCA have blossomed considerably. So much so, that we are delighted to announce that EISCA will now be exhibiting on a full time basis in the newly renovated ‘Tithe Barn’, situated on the Park’s exit road.

The new Beale Park Maritime Centre’s opening exhibition, ‘Racing Dinghies & River Craft’ will display unique examples of dinghies such as: International 14 K170 ‘Imp,’ designed and built by Uffa Fox in 1928, the same year as the famous ‘Avenger’ was constructed. Also on display will be the International 14 K396 ‘Taiyara,’ designed and built by Uffa Fox in 1938.

River boats originating from the Thames and beyond will also be on show, including a 34’ 9” Thames Racing Punt. Once a common sport on the Thames, punt racing is now almost dead. The punt itself needs calm water and a tightrope-walker’s skill to balance. Not to mention the 41’ 11” Clinker Racing Four, ‘Sabrina,’ willalso be on display.
