There’s something for everyone at the Beale Park Boat Show, June 4-6th 2010

Tuesday 1st June 2010

There's something for everyone – boats of all shapes and sizes, old and new - displays and demonstrations, live entertainment, water based activities, free boat trips, classic cars, arts and crafts, and prizes to be won, at this year's Beale Park Boat Show –  4th-6th June 2010.

Organisers of the wildlife park's largest fund raising event at Lower Basildon in Berkshire, announced today that this year's show is as popular as ever, despite the current financial climate, as exhibitor bookings hold their own and new attractions join the show.

Gillie Jackson, Event Organiser, said, "We have received some very positive feedback from our exhibitors and are welcoming newcomers at a time when businesses are battling against the odds."

"Our event has earned its place as one of the UK's leading regional boat shows, creating a showcase for the boating community, while working tirelessly to introduce visitors to a life at the waters edge."

Gillie continued "We have several new water based activities: for example, The Water Buoyz; will be giving people the opportunity to climb inside a giant plastic ball and walk on water, while the Historical Maritime Society will recreate a slice of life at sea in Nelson's Navy, as

re-enactors take to the lake in a 23 foot, full size replica of a frigate's launch. "

Another new attraction is the centrepiece of The Eyemouth Maritime Centre's opening exhibition - 'Bligh's Voyage across the South Seas,' from The Eyemouth International Sailing Craft Association (EISCA) in Scotland.

They will exhibit a replica of the 'HMAV Bounty' launch boat that Captain William Bligh and his 18 faithful crewmen sailed to safety in after the mutiny in 1789.  The exhibit will include memorabilia that Bligh and his crew would have seen, from the Pacific areas they travelled through, and will feature items from the 1983 movie, 'Bounty', starring Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson.

Catering for a broad section of the boating community, this popular event offers boating enthusiasts and newcomers alike, an action-packed day out with something for everyone, set against a stunning backdrop of the River Thames.  The showground's seven acre lake enables visitors to take to the water quickly and easily; showcasing a large variety of vessels with everything from wooden boats, canoes, coracles, sailing and motor boats to steam, electric, solar and pedal powered craft.
