Introduction:
The Beale Park Boat Show, at Lower Basildon in Berkshire, is set against a stunning backdrop of the River Thames, attracting more than 5,000 visitors. It has grown considerably in recent years, becoming one of the south's leading boating events, featuring everything from: canal and river craft, classic and sailing boats, to electric and steam launches, canoes, motor cruisers, dinghies and holiday/hire craft.
Having evolved from what was a wooden boat show, to an event which caters for a broad section of the boating community and appeals to a strong and diverse audience – it now offers an unusual, informative and entertaining day out at the water's edge with a variety of entertainments, children's activities, talks and demonstrations, a cookery tent, craft and produce and a classic car display; all recent additions which have strengthened the show and heightened visitor interest.
2009 was a successful year, despite the rain! Designed to promote the use of the River Thames for recreation and to encourage people to take to the water (whether seafaring or inland), there is a seven acre lake at the heart of the showground, enabling visitors to discover boating for themselves, with a variety of 'Displays on the Lake' and the option to 'Try-A-Boat'.
Free Boat Trips and Family Canoeing are key components and continue to be two of the event's most popular attractions, with more than 1,500 visitors venturing out on organised trips and in supervised trials, last year.
As the Show continues to develop, so organisers are keen to introduce new elements, seeking out new exhibitors and supporters and offering businesses a rare opportunity to benefit from what is a unique event - combining a Boat Show with the established attraction of a wildlife park, and creating what is Beale Park's largest fund raising event.
This document outlines several opportunities for companies to become involved in the event and to benefit from the exposure that it generates.

This is a unique opportunity for you to promote your business while supporting the work of Beale Park, part of The Child-Beale Trust, a registered charity, established in 1956.
Your support will enable the Park to stage the show, its largest fund raising event, which creates numerous marketing and PR opportunities.
For an investment of £20,000 you will enjoy "Event Sponsor" status and the numerous business benefits associated with sponsorship, including:
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £20,000
Marina entrance and walkways (Pontoons):
A key requirement of any boat show is a place for boats to moor and for people to embark and disembark, hence a need for pontoons throughout the showground. The pontoons are a vital component, enabling visitors to view the boats at close quarters or even climb aboard as exhibitors take to the water during the show.
The Marina is the place where the public can board several vessels and where some exhibitors moor prior to taking potential buyers out. This package has been put together to enable a sponsor to create their own arch or entrance to the Marina which is a prime site.
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £5,000
Show brochure:
The show brochure is offered to each visitor free of charge (subject to availability) and features a competition to win a holiday. The publication gives visitors a map of the showground, a programme of events, exhibitor listing, articles of interest and a record of the weekend.
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £3,000
Arenas and Entertainment Marquee:
The arena was introduced to the show in 2007, and is the stage for a variety of performers including music, dance and a NewFoundland Dogs display! The entertainment marquee is new for 2010, to house the many entertainments. With a central location and attracting the attention of the majority of the crowd, entertainment is a prime sponsorship opportunity.
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £2,000
Boat Trips:
The Beale Park Boat Show is known for its Free Boat Trips - designed to encourage visitors to get out onto the water; a key element in the event's popularity. In fact, the trips proved so popular in 2007, that they were fully booked by lunchtime, each day; resulting in the organisers booking a larger passenger boat in order to cater for demand in 2008.
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £2,000
Talks & Demonstrations marquee:
2009 saw the introduction of a 'Talks & Demonstrations' marquee, specifically for talks, workshops and demonstrations with a watery theme! This dedicated marquee has a black-out facility, in order that slides/films can be shown.
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £1,500
Displays on the Lake:
Following the successful introduction of displays on the lake three years ago, the event organisers now work in conjunction with the various boating associations and charitable organisations to bring visitors a varied and interesting programme of activity on the lake; with everything from fishing displays and a rescue demonstration by Newfoundland Dogs, to a variety of boating displays.
These displays are accompanied by a commentary which is broadcast via a PA system to the showground at regular intervals throughout the day.
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £1,000
Signage:
All events need signage to direct exhibitors and visitors or to key attractions and areas of the showground. This is an opportunity for the Sponsor to have their logo and a strap line on signage produced for the event. Examples of signage include: welcome banners, pricing on the gate, showground maps, entertainment schedules, on marquees, area markings (eg Orange area), key facilities etc.
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £1,000
Car Park:
With attendance figures reaching in excess of 5,000 people, car parking is a key requirement. This option enables the Sponsor to promote their brand within the parking fields.
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £1,000
Classic Car Field:
The Classic Car Display is growing in popularity year on year and 2009 was a bumper year with the arrival of Morgans, Jaguars, Triumphs and MGs, not to mention a 1930's Bentley and a 1950's Cadillac.
The Classic Cars field receives many visitors and its entrances are clearly visible from the car park and on the exit road for the event, making it a prime spot for a potential sponsor.
Sponsorship package:
Cost: £750
Cookery Demonstrations:
The Cookery tent made its first appearance at the show in 2007, with Mike Smylie (aka Kipperman) of 'Kipperland' and Simon Cooper of 'The Court of the Silver King' running a series of cookery demonstrations featuring fish and investigating the truths behind Omega 3.
2009's performance took the show by storm with the duo attracting a sizeable crowd. The charismatic pair will be joining us again in 2010 with more tales of Omega 3!
